Aligned with its mission to support the local art scene, and in an effort to highlight a different artist each year, The Art Circle is launching its second edition of The Art Circle Award.


The Art Circle Award is a small format painting contest.


It is open to all artists, UAE National and Residents, over the age of 18 and is free of charge.


The theme for this year edition: “I dreamed that I swallowed the moon…”

It is inspired by an event from the life of the famous Emirati poet Ousha Al Suwaidi also known as Fatat Al-Arab (the Girl from the Gulf), who, at the age of 12, woke up from a dream in which she swallowed the moon. 

Ousha, 1920-2018, is known throughout the Gulf for her award-winning Nabati poems, many of which have been put to music.


Deadline: October 14th, 2022

The proposed artworks will be reviewed by a jury of art experts comprising directors of institutions, collectors and curators.


Shortlisted ones will be included in an exhibition.


The wining proposal will be unveiled on the opening day of the exhibition and awarded AED 10,000 .


The winning artwork will be part of The Art Circle collection and its reproduction,as a Giclee print, will be offered to the different art specialists it will collaborate with during its various visits and exchanges in 2023.
