Printing techniques of lithography and etching will be the topic of the talk with the main emphasis on the famous Iraqi artists Dia Al Azzawi.

Maya Allison is the Chief Curator at NYU Abu Dhabi and founding Executive Director of the NYUAD Art Gallery and Project Space. Maya has also curated numerous exhibitions in other institutions.
Maya will give us a tour in the gallery.
Bill Bragin, a leading figure in music and arts programming, is the first executive artistic director of The Arts Center at New York University Abu Dhabi. Called “one of the most influential figures in the New York live-music business” by the New York Times.
Bill will offer us a tour of all the facilities of the art department.

MATHILDE DE L'ECOTAIS WORKSHOP
AT FATIMA BINT HAZZA CULTURAL FOUNDATION
For the Year of tolerance in the UAE, Fatima bint Hazza Cultural Foundations partners with Mathilde de l'Écotais under the initiative 360 Earth DNA. Through a workshop, Mathilde will be creating an artwork using aesthetic elements of food from all around the world to create meaningful and impactful images. The Artwork will be showcased in Abu Dhabi Art and available for sale and proceeds will go to charity.
Mathilde de l’Écotais, a French artist, portrays food and turns it into a beautiful fabric, a marvelous paper, sublimating textures and shapes. With a minimalist and modernist touch, the photographer highlights a few crucial elements, thanks to a deep work on colors and transparences. Resonating with sustainability, the artist is acting as the spokesperson of a nature brutalized by Man. We are what we eat, or so it seems.
Fatima bint Hazza Cultural Foundation develops initiatives related to art and culture that are creative and impactful.

We are very happy to invite you to a talk given by Velerie Maltaverne. She is participating to the exhibition of the Louvre “10,000 Years of Luxury” with her bench “Fallen tree-Morning Mist”. Velerie creates design around marble, marquetry, tapestry, lightening. She is recognized by the greatest museums and collectors. All her work will be exhibited in the musee des arts decoratifs in Paris.

Abdul Qader Al Rayes
The artist Abdul Qader Al Rayes is one of the curators in the UAE and one of the most prominent contemporary artists in the Fine Arts in the Arab world.
Abdul Qader is committed to his technical approach focusing with romantic feelings at the human and the nation, and inspired by the heritage and makes the past and present alive in his water and oil eternal paintings.

Shaikha Al Mazrou received her Masters in 2014 from the Chelsea College of Fine Art, University of the Arts in London where she was awarded the prestigious MFA Student Prize. Prior to that she studied at the College of Fine Arts and Design, University of Sharjah where she is currently a Sculpture Lecturer. She participated in the first Emirati exhibition across USA from Washington DC museum and LA.
Al-Mazrou will take us in a tour at the University where she will explain her work and technique.

Talk: By Salma Shaheem (Appreciation, evaluation and investment in art)
Salma Shaheem established Fine Art Middle East in Dubai in 2012, a boutique art advisory firm focusing on developing art collections for private clients and public institutions.
She works very closely with collectors, in an advisory capacity, to build and maintain their art collections with the idea that art is essentially an asset, which increases in value over time.
Houda Zabri is a collector with a big collection of Omar Onsi's work, a renowned Lebanese artist.

Audrey is an expert on the market of art and a gallery owner. The gallery is known for having introduced some of the most influential Afro-American artists to Luxembourg at a time when they were still relatively unknown as for example Njideka Akunyili Crosby, Wangechi Mutu, Jeff Sonhouse and Terry Adkins. The gallery organizes six exhibitions including one historical exhibition a year. In May 2016, the gallery held an historical Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition. In September 2017, the gallery opened the first historical show of Jean Dubuffet in Luxembourg featuring more than 50 works of the artist.
Audrey will be giving a talk on the International Art Market.

11:00 AM - A tour of Houda Benjelloun's private collection.
It all started with a fortunate encounter with a masterpiece from the Lebanese painter and mythical character in Boutros’ family, Shafic Abboud. His work triggered the urge to collect art as a family legacy, and beyond that, a passion. Their collection retraces the work of Shafic Abboud from his early paintings to some of his latest pieces in which the viewer can observe the apogee of Shafic’s art. Other artists in the collection include Zena Assi, Idris Khan, Michel Basbous, and Moroccan painters such as the iconic Farid Belkahia, Mohamed Kacimi, and the most contemporary Mahi Binebine.
1:00 PM - A tour of Atassi collection (in their private residence) featuring major Syrian Artists. Mona Atassi will offer us a light lunch.

Dr. Frauke Heard-Bey:
Is a historian and political scientist specialized in social and political development of the Gulf over five decades. Her particular focus is the UAE when she worked for 39 years at the Center for documentation and research which became the natural archives of the UAE. She joined it in 1969. It was then part of the ruler of Abu Dhabi Court in the Qasr El Hosn.
Dr. Reem Al Motwalli:
Author, with five publications and over 30 years of experience in art and cultural heritage. Since the early 1980s, at the Cultural Foundation Abu Dhabi, she has been contributing to the establishment of cultural & art departments; advising on museum displays, leading and driving projects, hosting seminars, undertaking cultural tasks of different capacities and curating exhibitions.

Its performance in the city by Akira Takamaya starting at the Cultural Foundation
Artist Akira Takayama was commissioned for the sixth edition of Durub Al Tawaya to produce a new version of his work Heterotopia, which includes designing an application that can be downloaded to a mobile phone, and which leads the audience via a map to several places and buildings in the city. Once they arrive at the locations, they listen to a voice reading passages of literature or poetry by local and international authors who were commissioned to write pieces inspired by these places. The performance offers the audience a creative experience where they can re-imagine streets and places in the city in a new and unique way.
