Matilde de L'ecotais.png

For the Year of tolerance in the UAE, Fatima bint Hazza Cultural Foundations partners with Mathilde de l'Écotais under the initiative 360 Earth DNA. Through a workshop, Mathilde will be creating an artwork using aesthetic elements of food from all around the world to create meaningful and impactful images. The Artwork will be showcased in Abu Dhabi Art and available for sale and proceeds will go to charity.

Mathilde de l’Écotais, a French artist,  portrays food and turns it into a beautiful fabric, a marvelous paper, sublimating textures and shapes. With a minimalist and modernist touch, the photographer highlights a few crucial elements, thanks to a deep work on colors and transparences. Resonating with sustainability, the artist is acting as the spokesperson of a nature brutalized by Man. We are what we eat, or so it seems.

Their collection retraces the work of Shafic Abboud from his early paintings to some of his latest pieces in which the viewer can observe the apogee of Shafic’s art. Other artists in the collection include Zena Assi, Idris Khan, Michel Basbous, and Moroccan painters such as the iconic Farid Belkahia, Mohamed Kacimi, and the most contemporary Mahi Binebine.
