ABOUT THE EVENT

Watch the recording of this event.

When we talk about The UAE cultural development, Louvre Abu Dhabi is probably the key milestone of the recent regional history. We are delighted to have with us Jean-François Charnier in conversation with Olivia Bourrat, who have both worked on the development of the curatorial journey of the Museum. For those who were lucky enough to have visited Louvre Abu Dhabi, we know how powerful this curatorial choice is.

Let us all meet on January 24th at 8pm UAE to exchange with our guests during our next webinar.

Jean-François Charnier is a national general heritage and art curator and, author of the book Louvre AD, a world vision of art.

He graduated in Art History and Archaeology from the Ecole du Louvre and in anthropology from Université Paris X-Nanterre.

In 2008 he joined Agence France-Museums to coordinate the expertise of  French national museums including the Louvre, Pompidou Centre, Orsay etc. for the creation of the Louvre Abu Dhabi. He was appointed Scientific Director of Agence France-Muséums in 2013: he created the contents of the museum and led the teams responsible for the museography, art acquisitions, programming and publications of the Louvre Abu Dhabi which opened in November 2017. He joined Afalula Agency in August 2018 as Head of Al Ula culture.

Olivia Bourrat works at the French Ministry of Culture, in the International cultural expertise department. She is an art historian and a national curator of the French ministry of culture. Olivia joined Agence France-Museums in 2014 as curatorial deputy director and became Curatorial director from 2018 to 2020 for the Louvre Abu Dhabi project. She worked on the mediation and interpretation program, on the selection of the artworks and conception of the galleries of the museum. She collaborated on the museographic choices and the acquisition strategy for the museum.
