ABOUT THE EVENT
A Lebanese immersive morning in the heart of Abu Dhabi:
CREATIVE NATION 961.
11am: Pierre Sadek: "Picturing History"
Private guided tour of the exhibition with Ghada Sadek, the daughter of the artist and President of Pierre Sadek Foundation.
This exhibition is intended as an exploratory journey into the work of an artist who created
images that at times served to record history and sometimes helped make it. He was witness to an era rife with world-changing events in the history of both Lebanon and the region, and his work not only transformed caricature into a school of art, but in fact spawned an entire category of work that can be classified as "Sadek caricature."
Eras, events, wars and occupations: Pierre Sadek drew all of these together into the art of caricature.
11.30pm: Fouad Tomb "Meshwar"
Private guided tour of the exhibition "Meshwar"
When all he had created for a life burst into flames in 2020, Fouad Tomb left Lebanon without ever wanting to look back. It was a time of deep loss and sorrow, being transposed in a familiar but utterly different environment from his birth country, being isolated from his own children, living in fear of the unknown. He felt a blackout.
Certainly, his art practice helped him and he painted prolifically, channeling all the pain, the hurt & trying to make sense of how absurd life had become.
Meshwar represents not only the artist life story but also the artist introspection - a personal search and reconciliation with a new reality. In this journey of exploration, he breaks away from old patterns and more traditional forms while keeping the same gravitas in the completion of each artwork."
Fouad Tomb is born in Tripoli, Lebanon in 1951
Living in an artful home, he inherited his art pedigree from his father
Maroun Tomb also a Lebanese painter who was considered a founding father of pictorial modernism in Lebanon.
