Ahmed Al Areef studio visit

Ahmad Saeed Al Areef Al Dhaheri, (b.1988) is an Emirati multidisciplinary artist. He acquired his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from the College of Arts and Science at the American University of Sharjah (2012). The artist then pursued his Masters in Art History and Museum Management at Paris-Sorbonne University, Abu Dhabi (2017).

Over the past decade, Al Areef’s multidisciplinary artistry has become synonymous with conceptual photography and he has recently broadened his scope of artistic mediums to include digital art, video installations, photo manipulation, oil on canvas and illustration, specifically ink on paper. He embeds historical symbols through contemporary mediums to represent and convey the significance of past cultures and heritages.

He has been showcased both locally and abroad at numerous galleries and museum exhibitions. His recent showcases include: Portrait of a Nation, Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF), Abu Dhabi, 2016; Portrait of a Nation, ME Collectors Room Berlin/Olbricht Foundation, Berlin 2017; UAE Design Stories: The Next Generation from the Emirates, Milan Design Week, Milan (2018); UAE Design Stories: Objects of the Past: Today, London Design Fair, London (2018); UAE Design Stories, Emirati Cultural Week-Gallerie Nikki, Paris (2018); UAE Design Stories: Design for Littles: Us, Ours, & Others, Dubai Design Week, Dubai (2018); Beyond: Emerging Artists, Abu Dhabi Art, Abu Dhabi (2018); Artist Residency Studio Exhibition, Abudhabi Cultural Foundation, 2019.

Al Areef is also currently an employee at the National Archives, akin to his art, his role reflects his desire to safeguard his heritage and enable it to flourish.


ZU CACE exhibition tour at Manarat Al Saadiyat

This event showcases the final projects of 186 graduating seniors from the College of Arts and Creative Enterprise (“CACE”), demonstrating their exceptional creativity and mastery in their respective fields.

The projects displayed the graduates’ capability to develop and execute complex ideas in animation design, graphic design, interior design, and visual art. Each student began their project with a concept, advancing it through intensive research. Guided by faculty and industry professionals who provided insightful feedback, the students refined their work through a process of rigorous critique, ensuring their projects reached the highest standards and were ready for the professional audience.

The success of the 2024 showCACE Senior Exhibition demonstrates Zayed University’s ongoing commitment to excellence in arts education, providing students with valuable opportunities to develop and display their work. The university continues to play a pivotal role in nurturing the talents that contribute to the cultural and creative sectors in the UAE.
